Columbus

Helen Theresa Voeller McClintic, 80, of Columbus, passed away peacefully at 10:45 a.m. October 13, 2016, at her home, surrounded by family.

Helen was born Nov. 17, 1935, in Frederick, South Dakota, to the late Jacob and Martha Frieh Voeller. She was raised Catholic and had eight siblings. She attended Barnard High School, graduating in 1955. She met her husband, Donald McClintic, while he was serving in the military in 1955 and they were married on Dec. 2, 1958, in Rapid City, South Dakota. They moved to Columbus in 1959 where she worked in food service for many years. Helen also worked at Skooter’s for many years until her retirement. She was a part of the change from serving hamburgers to the beginning of the home cooked meals, which continues to this day.

Helen was a kind and selfless woman who always put others first. She always had something witty to say, making her family and others around her laugh. Her company was enjoyed and will be missed. Mrs. McClintic loved her family dearly and remained in communication with all of those located throughout the United States. She was a great cook and shared that with her daughters Gayle, Kim and Rona and granddaughter Whitney.

Helen was very outspoken about animal abuse and cruelty. She loved animals of all kinds, especially her dog, Sadie.
