Donald A. Knight, 92, of Edinburgh, died October 24, 2016, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was the born January 2, 1924, in Columbus, the son of William Knight and Minnie (French) Knight Blair. He married Bernice (Bailey) Knight on June 29, 1952.

He is survived by his wife; son, Brian (Tami Harshbarger) Bailey of Columbus; and grandchildren, Lauren Hatfield, Jacey Melton, John Melton, Brian Bailey, Kristen Bailey and Bethany Bailey.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Jacqueline Carol “Jackie” Melton; a brother, Joseph H. Knight; a half brother, Harry Jones; and sisters, Hazel Evelyn Horning, Ruth Viola Holquist and June Bailey.

A graduate of Butlerville High School, he served as a radio operator in the U.S. Navy during World War II.  He was a member of Who-So-Ever-Will Community Church and Edinburgh Masonic Lodge No. 100 and had served on the Edinburgh Library Board.

He formerly owned and operated Knight’s Frozen Foods Locker and Columbus Skateland and was currently helping his son with Bailey’s Soft Water in Edinburgh.

He enjoyed collecting old cars and motorcycles and doing genealogy research.

The funeral service will be conducted by Reverend Lewis Burton at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 29, at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m.  Friday, October 28, and until time of service Saturday at the funeral home. Masonic rites will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
