Jerry M. Fife Sr., 76, of McKinley Avenue, died at 10:08 a.m. October 25, 2016, at Silver Oaks Health Campus.

Jerry was born September 4, 1940, in Vicksburg, Mississippi, the son of Johnnie and Corleen Curtis Fife. He married Thelma Irene Stone March 12, 1971. She preceded him in death July 14, 2007.

He was employed for 30 years at Golden Castings where he was a millwright. Jerry loved deer hunting, fishing, gardening, “tinkering” with things and helping people, especially with welding.

He was a loving father and a great provider and really loved his grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 28, 2016, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Glenn Poynter officiating. Calling hours will be from 10 a.m. until time of service Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery with military honors by Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.

Memorials may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana through the funeral home.

Survivors include his sons, Jerry M. (Tammy) Fife Jr. and John P. Fife Sr., both of Hope; daughter, Cherrie Dawn (Dennis) Wilkerson of North Vernon; grandchildren, Toria Fife, Jacob Fife, John Fife Jr. and Dorothy Lavonne Meeks; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; his companion, Dixie Thompson of Columbus; and several nieces and nephews, including Connie Coy of Edinburgh.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Thelma; a daughter, Ruthie Malone; brothers, John Fife and Bernard Fife; a sister, Emma Jean Dalton; and a grandchild, Zonda Campfield.
