Virginia Booher, 93, of North Vernon, passed away at 8:05 a.m. Thursday, December 15, 2016, at Premier Healthcare in North Vernon.

A funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m, Sunday, December 18, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service in North Vernon. The Rev. Ron Bridgewater will officiate. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Sunday. Burial will be in Vernon Cemetery.

Born August 29, 1923, in Paint Lick, Kentucky, Virginia was the daughter of the late James and Anna Fortner. She married Earl Lloyd Booher on August 4, 1948, and he preceded her in death on January 16, 1996.

Virginia retired from Arvin Industries and had enjoyed serving as a foster grandparent in Jennings County for 10 years. She was an intercessory prayer warrior for many within our community.

Virginia is survived by two sons, James (Sheri) Booher and Raymond Booher, all of Titusville, Florida; one daughter, Patricia (Hugh) Reynolds of North Vernon; five sisters, Phyllis Blair of Columbus, Indiana, Ellen Moore, Susie Horton, Stella Kirchner and Sandra Summerfield all of North Vernon; one brother, Charles Fortner of North Vernon; eight grandchildren, Amy Castell, Christin Lancaster, Matthew Robinson and Mary, Jennifer, Ean, Autumn and John I. Booher; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Anna Fortner; her husband Earl Booher; three sisters, Lucille Redicker, Edith Bishop and Geneva Monday; and one brother, James Fortner.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the Foster Grandparent Program or East Columbus Christian School.
