Elva Jean Kellogg

BONITA SPRINGS, FL

Elva Jean Kellogg, 92, of Bonita Springs, Florida (formally of Columbus, Indiana) passed away to be with the Lord on April 10, 2024.

Elva Jean was born on February 23, 1932 to Eunice and Ernest Burdick in Edmond, Oklahoma. She graduated high school in Edmond while also helping her widowed Mother take care of her six brothers and sisters.

At the age of 19 she met and married Leroy Kellogg in Edmond. Elva Jean and Leroy went on to have three children, Vince (Brenda) Kellogg, Sue (Bill) Loughmiller and Nancy (Dave) Carothers.

Elva Jean and Leroy were both passionate about their mission work and at one point sold all of their belongings in order to travel the world and offer help to those in need. Family members remember them being dedicated to the cause and their church throughout their lives. Elva Jean was a devoted follower of Jesus and will always be remembered for her gifts of prayer and faith. Elva Jean loved Jesus and her family – and both were a source of immense joy. She was known for her ability to host a large meal of delicious food on a moment’s notice. She was a gifted cook and always made everyone who entered her home feel welcomed. She always made time to encourage someone or write birthday cards to her extended family to remind them of her love. She was a life-long member of the church of the Nazarene.

Elva Jean was predeceased by her husband Leroy, brother Jim, brother Bob and sister Virginia, father Ernest, mother Eunice and two grandchildren Kyle and Nathan Carothers. She is survived by: siblings Dolores Roberts, Dorothy Cheatwood, Lyn (Angie) Burdick and John (Debbie) Burdick. Grandchildren: Megan (Jeremy) Palm, Jon (Sarah) Russell, Jess (Brian) Powell, Carol Ann (Alex) Veltkamp and Angela Wells. Great-grandchildren: Noah, Jonas, Josie, Eli, Canaan, Isaiah, Kylee Palm, Chris (Samantha) Loughmiller, Cohen and Ty Powell, Sydney Carothers, Cameron Wolf, Eve, Emma, Judah, Jonathan Russell, Mandy (Mak) Keys. Great-Greatgrandchildren: Ayva Keys and Giovanni Loughmiller. Plus, many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held on July 27 at 11:00 am at Calvary Fellowship Nazarene Church in Columbus, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to missions of your choice or Gideon International.
