Robert J. Neff, 82, of Columbus passed away on May 2, 2024 at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Robert was born September 6, 1941 in Columbus, Ohio, the son of Ormond J. and Elizabeth Thistle Neff.
On December 23, 1972 Robert married Ruthann Nicol, with whom he shared 51 years of marriage.
Robert was a 1959 graduate of Seymour High School and attended Indiana University where he was a Chi Phi alumni. He served in the United States National Guard for several years, and he was a long time member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. He worked for Arvin Industries and Arvin Meritor for 46 years before retiring in 2008.
Robert is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ruthann Nicol Neff; his five children, David J. (Amy) Neff, Amy (Bill ) Neff Porter, Michael A. Neff, Kelly Neff Gosman, and Scott A. Neff; and four grandchildren, Billy Porter, Kaylee Porter, Jane Gosman, and Ava Gosman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Nancy Neff Dostie.
A funeral service for Robert will be held Monday, May 6, 2024 at 1:30 p.m. at Myers-Reed Chapel with Pastor Tim Carter officiating. Burial will follow at Garland Brook Cemetery. Friends may gather for visitation on Sunday, May 5 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service on Monday.
Memorial Donations in his name may be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society.
Robert was dearly loved by his family, and he will be deeply missed.
