Brown County wins close one

MONROVIA — Brown County held on to beat North Putnam 55-52 in the Monrovia Tournament placement game.

Josh Cochran lead the game with 20 points and Reefauver added 11. The Eagles went into halftime up by one point but created a little space in the third quarter, having a 47-40 lead going into the fourth.

Columbus Christian wins at home

Lain Isley scored 18 points at home against Providence Cristo Rey.

The Crusaders went into halftime with a one point lead but outscored Providence Cristo Rey by seven points in the third. Logan Roth scored 16 points and Blake Barker added 13.

Jennings routs South Ripley

JENNINGS COUNTY– Tyler Vogel scored 23 points in the Jennings County win over South Ripley.

Jennings County went up 18-8 in the first quarter and was up by 16 going into halftime. Nick Amrhein had a solid game with 15 points.

Columbus Christian loss at home

Lauren Barker’s 22 points was not enough for the Crusaders as they lost at home 46-32 to Providence Cristo Rey.

Columbus Christian went into the half up by one point but Providence Cristo Rey held the Crusaders to just three third-quarter points.

Columbus East places third

SCOTTSBURG — Columbus East wrestler Graham Rooks defeated two time state champion Colton Cummings to help the Olympinans place third in the Al Smith 32 Team Inviational.

Rooks (126) went 5-0 and finished first while his brother Cayden (12) went 4-1 to place second. Dawson Combest (132) also went 4-1 to place second. Jake Schoenegge (138) went 6-1 to place third and Austin Wilson (160) went 4-2 to place fourth. Austin Shecklef (220) went 5-2 to place fourth and Corban Poloitt (145) had a sixth place finish after going 4-3 in the tournament.
