North boys top Flashes

INDIANAPOLIS — The Columbus North boys won 11 of the 12 events Thursday in rolling to a 129-56 win at Franklin Central.

Sam Russell won the 200-yard freestyle (1 minute, 50.16 seconds) and 100 freestyle (50.98), and Jared Carroll took the 100 butterfly (55.54) and 100 backstroke (57.34) to lead the Bull Frogs.

Other individual winners for North were Evan Patterson in the 200 individual medley (2:07.76), Angel Torres Martinez in the 50 freestyle (23.08), Kaemon Jiles in the diving competition (259.10) and Adam Zhuang in the 100 breaststroke (1:03.47). The Bull Frogs also won the 200 freestyle (1:35.67) and 400 freestyle (3:23.65) relays.

The North girls won seven events to the Flashes’ five, but Franklin Central pulled out a 94-89 victory. Olivia Morlok won the 50 freestyle (26.45) and 100 butterfly (1:04.45), and Betsy King took the 100 freestyle (55.15) and 100 backstroke (1:05.82) to lead the Bull Frogs.

North’s Darby Coles won the 200 IM (2:17.42), and Emma Wilson took the diving (159.20). The Bull Frogs also captured the 200 freestyle relay (1:42.06).

South Decatur wins

GREENSBURG — South Decatur fell behind Waldron 18-5 after one quarter before rallying for its first Mid-Hoosier Conference win of the season, a 53-40 triumph.

Taylor Best led the Cougars (3-15, 1-3) with 13 points, while Sierra Lang added 12 and Stacy Fox had 10. Madison Owens grabbed 13 rebounds.

Mustangs top Trinity

NEW WASHINGTON — Trinity Lutheran led 11-10 after one quarter, but New Washington came back for a 49-36 win.

Savannah Harweger led the Cougars (8-12) with 16 points. Abby Hackman added 11.
