Free registration for second food summit

The second Columbus Area Local Food Summit will take place Feb. 22.

The summit, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Donner Center, 739 22nd St., will include presentations and discussions for producers, consumers and larger-scale buyers. Anyone with an interest in the local food economy is welcome to attend.

Hosted by Purdue Extension and other organizations, the event intends to foster networks of growers and buyers by pursuing local food action steps for conserving agricultural land, creating jobs, keeping farmers farming and bringing new farmers into an aging workforce.

Registration is free, and a locally sourced lunch will be provided by Cummins Corporate Hospitality. However, free-will donations will be accepted and will go to a local food pantry for the purchase of local products.
To attend, register online at extension.purdue.edu/Bartholomew.
