Pair arrested after vehicle stopped for speeding 80 mph in a 55 zone

Bartholomew County Sheriff’s deputies arrested two people after a traffic stop on U.S. 31 North near Edinburgh.

Deputy Andrew Dougan stopped a vehicle clocked at 80 mph in a 55 mph speed zone at 10430 U.S. 31 North at about 6:35 p.m. Wednesday, deputies said.

The driver, Tyne Kelsay, 28, 3035 Seneca Court, Columbus, appeared to be impaired, Dougan said. She was taken to the Bartholomew County Jail on a charge of operating while intoxicated, deputies said.

A male passenger identified himself by multiple names, but was later identified as Javier Baez, 38, Edinburgh, deputies said. He was arrested on a charge of false informing and is being held without bond in the Bartholomew County Jail.

There were two juveniles ages 10 and 6 who were also in the vehicle, deputies said. One was released to a relative and the other was placed with the Department of Child Services.
