Howard Wayne Cochran, 56, of North Vernon, died unexpectedly at 7:28 a.m., Sunday, February 12, 2017, in Columbus, Indiana.

Howard spent most of his life working as an auto mechanic for Bud’s Transmissions. His favorite pastimes included drinking beer along the river, listening to old country music, exaggerated singing/dancing and playing air piano while impersonating Jerry Lee Lewis. Howard will be truly missed by all that were lucky enough to experience him.

Mr. Cochran was born in Columbus, Indiana, Aug. 11, 1960, to the late Robert and Edna Andrews Cochran.

Survivors include his brother, Robert Dale Cochran of Cantonmet, Florida; sisters, Debbie (Mike) Reed of Brownsburg and Faith Chapman of Columbus; nephews, David and Greg Reed and Matt Cochran; and niece, Nicole (Ben) Boyer.

He was preceded in death by his parents and faithful cat, Buttons.

A celebration of life gathering will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017, at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street. Cremation has taken place and burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in North Vernon.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Bartholomew County Humane Society.
