Dorothy “LaVonne” (Moon) Meeks, 42, of Monrovia, unexpectedly died on February 25, 2017.

She was born on March 12, 1974, in Columbus. LaVonne went to school at Columbus and Vicksburg, Mississippi. A loving mother, she met the love of her life, Jeff Meeks, in 2002 with whom she jointly owned and operated Elite Towing. Full of beauty and rage, LaVonne was a powerful woman, who always protected her tribe. She was an adventurous, fun free spirit, who craved adrenaline and loved the color pink. She enjoyed music, gardening, riding the Harley with her husband and traveling to Key West. Her contagious smile will be missed by many.

She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Tevin Bode; and sister, Zonda Campfield.

Survivors include her husband, Jeffrey Meeks of Monrovia; children, Westin and Kiarra Wright; sister, Cherry Dawn; mother-in-law, Jenny Frickie of DeMotte; niece, Tori Fife of Hope; and fur-kids, Max and Mystic.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2017, at Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel, 585 E. Main St., Monrovia, with services beginning at 6 p.m. and cremation following. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
