Olympian wins high jump

INDIANAPOLIS — Columbus East senior T.C. O’Neal leaped 6 feet, 4 inches, Saturday to win the high jump at a Hoosier State Relays indoor track and field qualifier at University of Indianapolis.

East’s Corde Yarbrough finished third in the high jump at 5-10. Columbus North’s Hunter Huser tied for sixth at 5-6.

Also for the Bull Dogs, Coleman Tennyson finished second (51-9) and Huner Wolford fourth (49-0) in the shot put. Brigham Kleinhenz tied for third in the pole vault (12-6).

For the girls, Jennings County’s Kayla Truesdell finished second in the shot with a school-record throw of 38-7 1/4. The Panthers’ Alexis Harsh took third in the long jump (15-10 3/4), and Jennings’ Alana Daeger and North’s Jahna Smiley tied for third in the high jump (4-10).

East’s Cortney VanLiew, Maddy Ping, Sydney Wilson and Gracie Schultheis finished fourth in the 4×400-meter relay in 4 minutes, 27.83 seconds. Ashley Allen was sixth in the long jump (15-3 1/4).
