Work will begin today to repair and install a new bridge deck overlay on a State Road 58 bridge over White Creek’s south fork.
State Road 58 will be closed for up to 45 days at the bridge site, which is about 9 and a half miles west of Interstate 65 in Bartholomew County.
The detour will send westbound traffic via I-65, U.S. 50, State Road 11 and State Road 258. Eastbound traffic will detour to State Road 258, State Road 11 and I-65.
Milestone Contractors is the Indiana Department of Transportation contractor for the $1.1 million southeast district bridge project.
The project also includes removal and replacement of bridges across Buck Creek on State Road 258 in Jackson County and another over a branch of White Creek about 8 miles west of I-65 in Bartholomew County.
The work on the White Creek branch is tentatively scheduled for mid-May, and the bridge is Jackson County is set to be replaced in mid-July.
