Joanne Loyd, 90, of LaGrange, Kentucky, previously of Columbus, passed away April 10, 2017.
She died peacefully at her daughter’s (Sherry Abernethy) home in LaGrange, Kentucky.
Joanne was born Dec. 4, 1926, to the late Raymond and Gladys Trotter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Loyd. She and Jack were married 53 years, raising three children.
Joanne was a member of East Columbus Methodist Church and a devout Christian. She was a very private and quiet person, who enjoyed reading and fellowship with her friends at church.
Joanne was also a member of the Clifford Chapter of Eastern Star for 50 years.
She was a homemaker and a life-long resident of Columbus. She and her husband enjoyed camping, and later were “snowbirds,”spending many winters in Florida.
There will be a graveside memorial service for family and friends at 1 p.m. April 13, 2017, at Dupont Cemetery, 10210 Indiana State Highway 7, Vernon, Indiana, with the Rev. Charles Aigner officiating.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to her caregiver, Marion Lay. She provided loving companionship and quality care during her extended illness.
Arrangements were entrusted to Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home.
Joanne is survived by her daughter, Sherry (Frank) Abernethy; a grandson, Jason Abernethy; and a great-granddaughter, Alyssa Abernethy, all of the Louisville area. Also surviving is her step-sister, Nancy Allen of Charleston, South Carolina; and a step-brother, Richard Tellman of Georgia.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack; sons, Roger Loyd and Timothy Loyd; step-mother, Gayle Tellman; and a brother, John Trotter.
