Noel E. Franke, 75, of Columbus, passed from this life with her family at her side at 3:24 p.m. Monday, April 10, 2017, at her home.
Noel and her husband, Bob, were the owner-operators of Dairy Queen downtown.
Noel enjoyed life, keeping very busy and cherishing time with her family. She loved her children and grandchildren, always there to listen and support them in their challenges and dreams.
Noel was an avid sports fan, watching sports on TV or listening to sports talk on the radio, her favorite pastime was watching her grandkids in their many activities. Her best memories included vacationing on Panama City Beach, surrounded by her family and friends while she sat on the beach enjoying the ocean waves. Noel enjoyed traveling, loved history and geography. She loved the trees and birds that surrounded her at her home, high on the hill west of town.
The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church with the Rev. Mark Teike officiating. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street and 9 a.m. until time of service Friday at the church. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran School or Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.

Noel was born on Christmas Day, Dec. 25, 1941, in Columbus, to Earl V. and Mabel M. French Ross.
She married Bob Franke on May 28, 1961.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years; her daughters, Jill (Garry) Arnholt, Julie (Jay) Comer, Jennifer (Chris) Eggers and Janae (Steve) Norman, all of Columbus; grandchildren, Cole, Kendra and Kylie Arnholt, Elle, Gracie and Nik Hatton, Conrad and John Eggers and Kathryn, Sierra and Lucy Norman; and her sister, Diana (Mike) Bova of Columbus.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
