Barbara “Kay” Totten, 83, of Union Street, passed away at Friday, April 7, 2017, at Silver Oaks Health Campus.

Kay was born Jan. 3, 1934, in Flora, Illinois, the daughter of Theodore Melburn and Mildred Dorothy Raley Warren.

Kay was a member of First Christian Church and was an avid bird watcher. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends, with whom she developed many life long relationships. Kay also enjoyed hiking, traveling and painting china, having won several state awards for her work. Kay especially enjoyed the last few years of her life, during which time she spent with the people she met at Just Friends Adult Day Care. Of all the people she spent time with, Kay most enjoyed the time she spent with her family, especially her “grands.”

A Memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 21, 2017, at First Christian Church with Dan Wallace officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be at Hope Moravian Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Just Friends Adult Day Care thru the funeral home.

Survivors include sons, Michael Totten of Madison, Wisconsin and Andrew (Anna) Totten of Barrington, Illinois; daughters, Debra Totten and Jennifer Ryan, both of Columbus; a brother, Russell (Beverly) Warren of Illinois; sisters, Maxine M. (Sterl) Keen of Olney, Illinois and Bonetta M. Hodgdon of Sun City, Arizona; grandchildren, Melanie Krebbs, Mariko Shelton, Justin Ryan, Shawn Totten, Sierra Ryan, Isabel Totten, Sofia Totten and Charles Totten; five great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Charles A. Totten Jr.
