Olympians roll against Warriors

Columbus East won four matches in straight sets Tuesday in posting a 4-1 win against Whiteland.

Megna Chari beat Reese Johnson 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, Adycin Rager downed Avneet Badwal 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 singles and Alaysha Pollert topped Haley Darling 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3 singles for the Olympians (6-3). Kendall Gerken and Kathryn Hodzen beat Riley Burnside and Hannah Blum 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles.

East’s Emie Kiser and Carolyn Travis fell to Bri Harwell and Sophie Venter 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.

Eagles edge Stars

BEDFORD — Brown County pulled out a three-set win at No. 1 singles to claim a 3-2 win at Bedford North Lawrence.

Elisabeth Huls beat Hope Martin 5-7, 7-5, 6-1 at No. 1 singles for the Eagles (4-3). Hallee Miller blanked Victoria Hart 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles, and Sarah Barrick and Maria Villalon topped Ali Allen and Alli Underwood 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.

Brown County’s Baelyn Koester fell to Emily Chastain 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3 singles. Vanessa Hoskins and Jacey Ferguson lost to McKenzie Messmore and Abby Riley 3-6, 6-2, 7-5 at No. 1 doubles.

Panthers nip Mustangs

NORTH VERNON — Jennings County won three matches in straight sets to pull out a 3-2 win against New Washington.

Avis McGovern beat Olivia Graebe 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, and Rebecca Driver downed Reagan Zimmerman 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2 singles for the Panthers (4-2). Maddy Hill and Ellie Hearne topped Katie Harrod and Natalie Harrod 6-4, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles.

Jennings’ Hailey Brown fell to Jessica James 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3 singles. Callie Wilder and Courtney Lykins lost to Emma Graebe and Haley Tye 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2 doubles.

Braves top Trinity

SEYMOUR — Brownstown Central won all five matches in straight sets in a 5-0 win at Trinity Lutheran.

Courtney Barker fell to to Laken Reynolds 6-1 6-4 at No. 1 singles, Abby Schult lost to Carly Brown 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 singles and Sidney Hoene fell to Riley Roberts 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3 singles for the Cougars (1-3).

Trinity’s Leah Stuckwisch and Lauren Voss lost to Rachel Adkins and Olivia Hackman 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles. Lauren Fleetwood and Cassidy Burnside fell to Claudia Sibril and Sydney Cockerham 6-4, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.

East falls to Red Devils

JEFFERSONVILLE — Columbus East scored four times in the fifth to take a 5-3 lead, but Jeffersonville put up three in the sixth to claim a 6-5 victory.

Eric McMullen went 2 for 3 for the Olympians (8-3). Jonathan Foster went 2 for 4 with two RBIs, and Luke Hostetler went 2 for 4 with a double.

Jets rally past Pirates

HOPE — Hauser trailed Greensburg 3-0 after four innings before scoring four times in the fifth to claim a 4-3 win.

Cameron Hartog and Sam Meek combined on a one-hitter for the Jets (8-3). Hartog and Trey Johnson each went 2 for 3.

Eagles fall to Patriots

SPENCER — Owen Valley jumped out to a 7-0 lead after two innings and went on to hand Brown County a 10-5 Western Indiana Conference loss.

Tristan Richards and Logan Ceeckler each went 2 for 3 for the Eagles (3-8, 0-2).

Hornets top Trinity

SEYMOUR — Henryville limited Trinity Lutheran to three hits in handing the Cougars a 7-2 loss.

Savannah Harweger had two of the hits for Trinity (6-4). Jaryn Holtsclaw had two RBIs.

Cougars sweep East

BLOOMINGTON — Bloomington North swept a dual meet from Columbus East, winning the boys contest 95-37 and the girls meet 99-33.

Three boys won events for the Olympians. T.C. O’Neal took the high jump (6 feet), Cam Wilson captured the 100 meters (11.40 seconds) and Paul Bean won the 1,600 (4:33.98).

Four East girls came away with wins. McKenna Downey took the pole vault (9-0), Elana Stoughton captured the high jump (5-2), Cortney VanLiew won the 400 (1:01.93) and Lizzy Frazier took the 800 (2:34.62).

Jennings boys win

NORTH VERNON — The Jennings County boys rolled to a quad-meet victory, scoring 111 points to 78 for Silver Creek, 27 for Rock Creek Academy and 23 for Corydon Central.

Dalton Craig, Alex Hendrix, Franklin Sanders and Ryan Gasper began the meet by running 8:16.1 in the 4×800 relay, tying the fully automatic school record of 8:16.30. The Panthers also won the 4×400 relay (3:37.9).

Chase Ketcham won the 100 (11.4) and 200 (23.1). Other individual winners were Dylan Carney in the pole vault (9-6), Doug Gerringer in the discus (124-6), Sanders in the 1,600 (4:16.2) and Carter Leak in the 3,200 (10:23.5).

Panthers top Red Devils

NORTH VERNON — Sidney Gerkin broke out of a slump by going 2 for 2 with a double and four RBIs to lead Jennings County to a 10-4 win against Jeffersonville.

Madi Skinner went 2 for 3 for the Panthers (8-3). Tesla Kopitzke went 2 for 4 with a double, a home run and three RBIs.

Eagles blank Patriots

SPENCER — Emma Summers threw a two-hitter and struck out 11 to lead Brown County to a 10-0, five-inning WIC win at Owen Valley.

Summers also went 3 for 3 at the plate for the Eagles (8-3, 3-0). Aubrey Hollander went 2 for 2 with a double, Azhia Morgan had a triple and three RBIs and Taylor Poling added two RBIs.

BOYS GOLF

Edinburgh-Greenwood-Indian Creek

GREENWOOD — at Valle Vista. Greenwood won with a 167 to 190 for Indian Creek and 232 for the Lancers.

Bladen Hancock led Edinburgh with a 52. Braden McManaway carded a 57, Gavin Hancock added a 58, Keegan Jones had a 65 and Zach Burton and Noah Childers each shot 66.
