Sheriff’s department hires new civil servers

The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department has hired two civilian process servers.

The new civil process servers are former Columbus police officers Dave Brown and Max Haymaker. They began their duties earlier this year and have served more than 700 papers to date.

The hires are part of an effort by the sheriff’s department to reduce the time road deputies spent serving civil papers, so deputies could spend time on traffic enforcement, warrant arrests and other community policing duties.
