Donald E. Murray, 69, of Columbus, died Sunday, May 7, 2017, at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Before retirement, Don was a plumber and worked at Dunlap for over 40 years.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Vietnam War.
Don was a member of Hartsville Masonic Lodge, Newbern United Methodist church and Plumbers Union Local 440. He enjoyed spending time with family, especially his granddaughter. Don was faithful and dedicated to his work.
Born on Sept. 8, 1947, Don was the son of Herschel and Maggie Cohee Murray. He married Louise Budd on Nov. 14, 1967, and she survives.
Other survivors include son, Scott (Cassie) Murray of Columbus; granddaughter, Alyssa Murray of Columbus; and brothers, Herschel E. and James Murray, both of Columbus.
Don was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Norman Funeral Home with Pastor David Bragg officiating. Viewing will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the funeral home. A masonic service will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.
