Marilyn K. Buis Jester, 76, of Hope, passed away Monday, May 22, 2017 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Hope.

Before retirement, she was employed as a clerk at Hope Food Mart for 30 years.

She was a member of the V.F.W. Women’s Auxiliary.

She enjoyed dancing, crossword and other word puzzles, traveling and, most of all, spending time with her family and friends.

Born Aug. 10, 1940, Marilyn was the daughter of Roe T. and Grace Pearl Young Sarber. She married Hugh H. Buis Dec. 28, 1958, and he preceded her in death Sept. 30, 1976. She then married Thomas E. Jester Nov. 29, 1981 and he preceded her in death Feb. 13, 2017.

Survivors include children, Teresa L. “Pete” (Gill) Pierce of Elizabethtown, Jeffery H. (Lisa) Buis of New Palestine and Cindy (Rob) Canaday of Hope; step-daughters, Wilma J. (Gene) Thompson of Spartanburg, South Carolina, Mary F. (Michael A.) Moody of Westport and Jennifer L. McKenzie of Ripley, Mississippi; grandchildren, Torie and Aaron Pierce, Hunter, Annie and Seth Buis and Kiersten and Kacey Bay; several step-grandchildren; great-granddaughter, Arianna Pierce; several step-great-grandchildren; sisters, Marie Patterson of Bloomington, Roselene Minton of Columbus, Carroll Joanne Baird of Spokane, Washington, Sharon (Jim) Smith of Columbus; and several nieces and nephews.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Hugh and Tom; and sisters, Margaret Chestnut and Virginia Gulickson.

The funeral for Marilyn will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Norman Funeral Home with Pastor Tracy McIntyre officiating. Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to service Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Hope Moravian Cemetery.
