The Book Mark Club of Columbus conducted its 80th anniversary luncheon April 25 at Harrison Lake Country Club.
Members attending were Julie Beerwart, Mary Butler, Louise Dorenbusch, Helen Haddad, Shirley Lyster, Nancy Moore, Nancy Nyers, Susan Pickens and Nancy Sawin. Guests were Tammy Burton, Jacquie Franz, Linda Guckenberger and Kim Stover.
Louise Hillery, local author and former educator, discussed her book “Bold Women in Indiana History.” She briefly described each of the 12 women featured in the book with emphasis on what characteristics and actions qualified each woman for inclusion. Among the women Hillery discussed were Gene Stratton Porter and Madame C.J. Walker.
