Grant supports exhibit on national landmarks

The Columbus Area Arts Council has received a grant through Indiana Humanities and Indiana Landmarks to highlight the city’s National Historic Landmarks.

The council was awarded $1,623 to help support an exhibit at the Bartholomew County Public Library, “The National Historic Landmarks of Columbus, Indiana.”

Additionally, the arts council and community partners are planning a panel discussion featuring architectural experts to share insights about the seven historic landmark buildings to be highlighted in the show, with a date and time to be announced.

The seven landmarks in Columbus are First Christian Church, the Irwin Conference Center, Miller House and Garden, McDowell Education Center, North Christian Church, First Baptist Church and the former Republic building.

The grant is part of $26,530 in funding awarded to 12 organizations throughout the state.
