As part of sweeping changes proposed in a new zoning ordinance and on revised maps, Columbus and Bartholomew County officials considered implementing a “rack rule” requiring any new commercial business to provide racks for parking customers’ bicycles.

About 100 Columbus residents “slammed” a proposed Front Door design saying the ornate gateway to the city on Jonathan Moore Pike would be more appropriate in Las Vegas or at an amusement park.

Most of the nearly 25,000 acres of wheat in Bartholomew County had been harvested with an average yield of 40 bushels per acre totaling nearly 800,000 bushels, according to the county agriculture agent.
