Jon Sewell, a veteran of Hurricane Katrina whose hospital had to be evacuated and eventually closed by the disaster, was selected from more than 100 candidates to be chief executive officer of Columbus Regional Hospital.

The House of Representatives approved a request by Rep. Phil Sharp and a group of Columbus city officials for $4.88 million to continue construction of the Interstate 65 “Front Door” project.

1967

Mayor Eret Kline requested a $20,000 appropriation for paint, patching plaster, light fixtures and other materials to “spruce up” city hall.
