Cossetta “Janie” Cook, 80, of New Albany, passed away at 6:02 p.m. on Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at Baptist Health Floyd Hospital in New Albany.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 29, 2017, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Services. Rev. Alan Young will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 28, 2017, and from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.
Born March 24, 1937, in North Vernon, Janie was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Peck) Lyle.
Janie had worked at Cummins, Inc. and Columbus Regional Hospital. She was a member of God’s House Baptist Church in Columbus. Janie enjoyed gardening, reading, cooking and spending time with her family.
She is survived by a daughter, Cindy (Andre Barnett) Cook of New Albany; a son, Michael (Shaela) Cook of Seymour; two sisters, Nancy Anderson of Indianapolis and Mary Frances Beatty of Hanover; a brother, Frankie Lyle of Versailles; step-children, Lynette Perkins of Charleston, SC, Janet Thompson, Tracy Downing, Jeff Downing and Greg Downing all of Dayton, OH and Phyllis Downing of Huber Heights, OH; grandchildren, Brittany and Keenan Noel; great-grandchild, Jude Noel; and several loving step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a fiance, Edward Downing; a son, Jackie Cook; and a sister, Reta Cook.
