Robert Leslie Hook

ELIZABETHTOWN

Robert Leslie Hook, 86, of Elizabethtown, passed away at 10:20 p.m. on Saturday, July 29, 2017, at his residence.

Born December 19, 1930, in Elizabethtown, Mr. Hook was the son of Harrison Carter and Nellie Estella Udell Hook. He married Cloris Staggs on August 29, 1958, at Wilson Chapel Church in Jennings County. She survives.

Mr. Hook was a 1949 graduate of North Vernon High School and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1953-1955. He retired in 1987 from the assembly line at Cummins Engine Company in Columbus. Mr. Hook was a farmer, worked construction and had previously worked for Como Plastics in Columbus for several years. He was a member of Wilson Chapel Church, A.A.R.P. and Diesel Workers Union. Mr. Hook enjoyed working.

Surviving with his wife, Cloris Hook, are sons, Harrison Carter Hook and Robin (Connie) Hook, both of Elizabethtown; daughter, Patricia Hook of Elizabethtown; sisters, Virginia Harp and Barbara Biddinger, both of Elizabethtown; grandchildren, Matthew (Sandy) Hook and Bryan (Amber) Hook, both of North Vernon and Bradley Hook of Elizabethtown; great-grandchildren, Lane and Bristol Hook, Alexia Jayne and Saylor Asche, all of North Vernon.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A funeral service for Mr. Hook will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 2, 2017, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 1, 2017, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon with military graveside rites.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
