About 350 people attending a forum on the causes, consequences and possible remedies to the home foreclosure situation in Indiana were told the state ranked second in the nation for number of foreclosures and that the number of foreclosures in Bartholomew County had increased 33 percent in four years.

The sale of new and existing homes in Columbus increased 24.4 percent in the preceding 12 months, fueled by low interest rates.

1967

In order to meet state minimum requirements of $1.15 per hour, Bartholomew Consolidated School Board granted wage increases of 50 cents for beginning workers and helpers and approved a new pay schedule for classified personnel in the school system’s cafeteria.
