Columbus North football team defeated Indianapolis Tech 35-0 to open the season; North’s girls’ cross-country team defeated perennial state rival Carmel to capture the girls’ Division I title at the Rushville Classic invitational; Columbus East’s volleyball team, ranked 14th in the state, easily disposed of three opponents to win its own invitational; and the North soccer team upended Indianapolis Pike 4-0 for the Hoosier Cup at Bloomington.


A new golf driving range, Tee Town, opened on State Road 46 on the west edge of Columbus.
