Joseph R. Wilder

EDINBURGH

Joseph R. Wilder, 84, of Edinburgh, died on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin.

Mr. Wilder was United States Marine Veteran. He graduated from Indiana Central Business College, then started a career in banking where he was a bank examiner, loan officer, and Vice President in various banks in central Indiana. He then started up a landscape material business, called Wilder Landscaping Material, and lastly, he had worked at H & R Block where he managed various offices in Columbus. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #100, Lions Club, Edinburgh Methodist Church, and was a Cub Scout Leader. He enjoyed woodworking and was an all-around family man. He put all his energy into his family and loved spending time with them.

The funeral will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Barkes, Weaver, & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Virgil Clotfelter officiating.

Family and friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.

Graveside services will be conducted at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Joseph was born on January 27, 1933 in Erlanger, Kentucky, the son of Earl and Marietta Rouse Wilder.

On August 31, 1956, he married Joan S. Brown; she preceded him in death on November 26, 2008.

Survivors include his children, Joseph P. Wilder of Columbus, Lori A. (Jon) Swaim of Columbus, Andy S. (Melissa) Wilder of Nashville Tennessee, Mary J. (David) Burbrink of Greenwood; Grandchildren, Keith Wilder, Bradley Wilder, Adam Wilder, Timothy Wilder, Madeline Swaim, Paxton Swaim, and Shelby Hurt; Several Great-Grandchildren; Twin Sister, Mary Louise Taylor of California; and a Brother, Walter Wilder of Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Timothy E. Wilder; Brothers, Earl, James, William, and Charlie Wilder; and 2 infant sisters.
