East graduate named to Horizon All-Freshman Team

Columbus East graduate Bailey Western has been selected to the Horizon League Volleyball All-Freshman Team.

Western averaged 1.83 kills and .96 blocks per set and hit .262 this fall for Northern Kentucky, which went 12-15. She pounded a career-high 11 kills against Cleveland State.

East-Noblesville boys basketball game rescheduled

Columbus East’s boys basketball season opener at Noblesville, which was postponed because of the football team’s run to the state finals, has been rescheduled for Saturday.

The junior varsity game will begin at 6 p.m. The varsity will follow at around 7:30 p.m.

St. Peter’s runners, East football champions to be honored

The St. Peter’s Lutheran boys cross-country team that won the Lutheran school national championship will be honored by Mayor Jim Lienhoop at 8:15 a.m. today at the school.

The Class 5A state champion Columbus East football team will be honored in a ceremony at 7 p.m. Jan. 8 at Parkside Elementary.
