The National Weather Service gave Central Indiana a 56 percent chance of having a white Christmas, but Columbus’ forecast was for a dry, mostly sunny day with highs near 40.

Columbus Board of Public Works and Safety agreed to take over maintenance of 25th Street under a proposed rerouting of State Road 46 to the south of the city, but requested public hearings on the plan to address concerns of business owners.

An engineering study made for the city earlier in the year estimated it would cost upwards of $2.1 million to remodel the Columbus storm sewer system to eliminate street flooding in older parts of the city.
