Mareta Jean Haislup

Mareta Jean Evans Haislup, 91, of Columbus, passed from this life at 11 a.m. Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Silver Oaks Health Campus.

Mrs. Haislup was born December 15, 1926, in Decatur County, the daughter of Charles A. and Hazel McCullough Evans.

She married William A. Haislup August 8, 1946.

Mrs. Haislup worked as a beautician and shop owner for many years. She retired as a realtor associate at Rahal Real Estate in Rockledge, Florida.

Mrs. Haislup was of the Methodist faith and was a past member and past Matron of Alert Chapter Order of Eastern Star No. 520.

She currently was a member of the North Vernon Chapter Order of Eastern Star No. 183.

She volunteered at Wuesthoff Memorial Hospital in Rockledge, Florida for 13 years and she was a member of the Rockledge Busy Fingers Craft Class at the Rockledge Senior Center.

Mrs. Haislup is survived by her sisters-in-law, Martha Barnhill and Jan Lewellen both of Columbus; her nephews, Larry, Mike, and Rick Barnhill, Jim Haislup and Vince Lewellen; her nieces, Janet Rice, Sharon Goembel, and Julia Bann; several great-nieces and nephews; and a cousin, Roberta Kroger.

Mrs. Haislup was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William, May 19, 1998; and her son, Jay Brian Haislup, May 13, 1972.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Reverend Connie Barr officiating. Family and friends may call from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Westport Cemetery.
