Edward ‘Ed’ Evans

Edward “Ed” Eugene Evans, 73, passed away on January 28, 2018 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana inpatient facility.

Ed was born on March 24, 1944 to Marshall and Virginia Evans in Greensburg.

He graduated from Sandcreek High School in 1962 and afterward attended Ball State University.

Growing up, he was always proud to be a member of the Boy Scouts under Norman Campbell.

He served in the U.S. Army for three years and also fought in the Vietnam War.

Ed married Cheryll (Miers) Evans on January 15, 1977.

He worked at Cummins for 44 years.

He was a member of Parkside Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing, hunting, trap shooting, gardening, reading, and jazz music, and was an avid IU basketball fan.

Ed is survived by his wife, Cheryll; his daughter, Rebecca (Bruce) Mendenhall of Nashua, New Hampshire, grandchildren Hailey and Logan Redmond, Hunter, Owen, and Wyatt Mendenhall, all of Nashua, New Hampshire; and a sister, Marsha (Mark) Eden of Decatur County.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Richard and Ronald Evans.

A funeral service for Ed will be held on Thursday February 1, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Parkside Baptist Church with Dr. William Bailey officiating. Burial will follow at Milford Cemetery in Milford, Indiana. Visitation will be held Wednesday January 31, 2018 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Myers-Reed Chapel, with additional visitation one hour prior to service at the church.

Memorials in Ed’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society, Parkside Baptist Church, or the Wounded Warrior Foundation.

Myers-Reed Chapel is serving the Evans family.
