Cintas seeking tax abatement to build distribution center

Cintas Corp., a supplier and distributor of corporate-identity uniform programs and other supplies, is seeking a tax abatement from the city for a planned distribution center in the Woodside Northwest Industrial Park.

The 10-year tax abatement will be considered by the Columbus City Council during its 6 p.m. meeting Tuesday. The $1.3 million, 17,500-square-foot building would be built by Prelude Investments LLC if the project advances, said Katy Cradick, Cintas branch manager.

Prelude Investments LLC would own the facility, with Cintas Corp. responsible for all real estate taxes, building insurance and maintenance, said Robin Hilber, the city’s community development programs coordinator.

The company plans to make a $573,000 investment in new equipment over four years, Cradick said.

Cintas Corp. plans to retain 49 jobs as a result of the expansion and add three new jobs by 2021 with an hourly wage of $21.94, according to the company’s application filed with the city. The company’s current employees work on a facility located at 4300 E. 50 North in Columbus.

If approved by the council, the tax abatement will save the company $96,607.
