SHELBY COUNTY
Robert Merril Gearhart, 62, of Shelby County, passed away April 8, 2018 at St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis.
He was born July 8, 1955 in Columbus. He was the son of Merril H. and Mary (Blocker) Gearhart.
He married Rita (Williams) Gearhart on September 6, 1980.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Gearhart of Columbus; wife, Rita of Edinburgh; son, Benjamin Robert Gearhart and daughter, Elizabeth (John) Blue, both of Edinburgh; granddaughter, Ruby Blue; sisters, Shirley Tingley of Columbus and Susie (Curt) Wilkins of Simpsonville, South Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his father, Merril H. Gearhart.
He was a member of Mount Auburn Christian Church.
He was the owner of R.J. Field Service.
He adored his granddaughter, Ruby.
He loved to talk on the phone to his family while driving at night, playing golf, working with livestock, and fiddling around on the farm.
A funeral service will be conducted on Friday, April 13, 2018 at 2 p.m. by the Revs., Douglas Redford and Brian Scott at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh. Calling will be on Thursday from 4 until 8 p.m. and from 1 p.m. until time of service on Friday, all at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Shelby County, Indiana.
