Two arrested after ONSTAR locates stolen vehicle

Bartholomew County Sheriff’s deputies arrested two people after ONSTAR notified police that a stolen vehicle had been located in Newbern.

Deputy Teancum Clark was sent 15785 E. Main St. in Newbern, an unincorporated community in Clifty Township, about the vehicle on Monday at the request of the Columbus Police Department, deputies said.

ONSTAR had disabled a white Chevrolet Malibu at that address, deputies said. Deputy Brent Worman located the vehicle and two people behind a garage, however, a man identified as Charles R. Barr Jr., 39, Newbern, fled on foot.

Clark followed Barr and arrested him without incident, deputies said. Worman identified the female suspect as Samantha J. Anderson, 26, 547 Della Road, Columbus.

Anderson was arrested on a preliminary charges of auto theft and receiving stolen property, deputies said.

Barr was arrested on preliminary charges of resisting law enforcement, a body attachment and a warrant, deputies said.
