Brinegar nets three top-12 finishes in Pan Pacific meet

Michael Brinegar garnered top-12 finishes in all three of his events in the past week’s Pan Pacific Championships in Tokyo.

The Columbus resident opened competition with a seventh-place finish in the 1,500-meter freestyle in 15 minutes, 7.04 seconds, a personal-best by two seconds. He then finished ninth in the 800 freestyle on Saturday and 12th in the Open Water 10K on Monday.

Brinegar will begin classes at Indiana University on Monday. He leaves Sept. 1 for the 2018 FINA World Junior Open Water Swimming Championships, which are Sept. 6 to 8 in Eilat, Israel.
