7 things about the Our Hospice Labor Day weekend concert

1) Who: Opening act The Why Store with Chris Shaffer, 7 p.m. Saturday. Headliner Randy Bachman, formerly of The Guess Who and Bachman-Turner Overdrive, 8:30 p.m. Bachman wrote more than a dozen hits, from “No Sugar Tonight” to “Taking Care of Business” in the 1960s and 1970s, and planned to perform all of them. Free admission.

2) Where: Mill Race Park, Fifth Street in Columbus. Parking at Cummins Inc. lot across from the park, downtown garages and other locations. Special seating in the concert area and limited parking at Lindsey and 8th Street entrance for people with disabilities.

3) Other key times: Park opens at 11 a.m. for people to take 15 minutes to place lawn chairs or blankets for seating. The park will reopen at 4:30 p.m.

4) Pets: Not allowed except for service animals.

5) No smoking.

6) Food/beverages/fundraisers: Food and drinks available at the park with proceeds supporting Our Hospice, which treats patients with life-limiting illnesses and their families. Coolers can be brought in. Raffle tickets sold at $10 each, with proceeds support hospice’s work and give purchaser a chance to win $10,000. Also raffle tickets for Faurecia-designed grills at $10 each or three for $25. Raffle drawing winners do not have to be present, and drawings occur after the show.

7) Other information: 40 percent chance of scattered thunderstorms in the afternoon; concert will be canceled in the event of severely inclement weather.
