Letter: Lienhoop has what it takes to be mayor

From: Al Roszczyk

Columbus

In 2015, I wrote a letter to the editor asking residents to support me in electing Jim Lienhoop as mayor of Columbus. Part of my letter included the following: "Jim has the values, character and experience to lead in a way Columbus has come to expect and appreciate, with empathy, humility, consistency and collaboration."

Some notable achievements during Jim’s administration over the past three years include:

  • Assisting to secure funding for an overpass over State Road 46
  • Working with the Alliance for Substance Abuse Progress (ASAP) on the substance abuse crisis in our community
  • Purchasing FairOaks Mall for repurposing
  • Partnering with Indiana University for the formation of the J. Irwin Miller Architecture Program
  • Creating the Velocities initiative with the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce and the City of Bloomington

Jim stated when he first ran for mayor: "The most important thing is that whatever we do, we do it together. All Columbus residents must feel valued and that their opinion is important." Jim has held true to his promise. Through compromise, persistence and collaboration, Jim has demonstrated that he has what it takes to oversee and lead our community.

I ask residents to join me in re-electing Jim Lienhoop for mayor.
