HOLOCAUST TALK WITH CHARLES MOMAN, 6 p.m. June 17, Bartholomew County Public Library, 536 Fifth St., Columbus. Retired Seymour teacher Charles Moman returns with an updated version of his talk on the Holocaust. He has traveled with Holocaust survivor Eva Kor several times and has visited Auschwitz and other Nazi camps in Poland. Last fall he traveled with Eva to her home village in Romania, as well as Hungary. A photojournalistic lecture is intended for ages 12 and up, however no graphic images are used.

Clyde Myers (theweedeater.net) covers the basics of foraging, plant identification, the benefits of eating wild food and more. He will show visitors what plants you can gather for food, medicine and other purposes. He will show you the key identifying characteristics of plants and plant families so that you can easily distinguish them from potentially dangerous look-a-likes. OLD FASHIONED INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION, 5-10:30 p.m. June 28, Hope Town Square, State Road 9, Hope. JERRY CLIFTON: INTARSIA WOOD ART EXHIBIT, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 21-July 23, B3 Gallery, 61 W. Main St., upstairs, Nashville. Artist’s reception will be held 4-7 p.m. June 28 at the gallery. Intarsia is a technique that uses varied shapes, sizes and species of wood to create a mosaic-like picture. Clifton relies on the natural variation of wood to create his pieces without stains. Finished works can include hundreds of pieces of wood and take 60 or more hours to complete.

PAINTINGS BY BILL BICKERS, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 21-July 23, B3 Gallery, 61 W. Main St., upstairs, Nashville. Special showing of paintings by Brownstown resident Bill Bickers. Artist’s reception will be 4-7 p.m. June 28 at the gallery. Bickers was raised in Columbus, and grew up with an appreciation of the design, color and texture of the local architecture. His abstract impressionist paintings are inspired by southern Indiana landscapes and the shapes and shades of everyday life. He paints in acrylics, frequently using a palette knife.

Fundraisers, nonprofits

PUREBRED RESCUE DOG ADOPTION EVENT, 7 p.m. June 19, Bartholomew County Public Library, 536 Fifth St., Columbus. The Kennel Club of Columbus Indiana invites you to this event featuring up to 10 purebred rescue dog organizations with dogs up for adoption. Applications will be taken for some breeds; some dogs may be able to go home with you that evening. Adoption fees vary with each rescue organization. Make a “furever” friend.
