Two men arrested on drug-related charges

A traffic stop on a vehicle with only one working headlight led to the arrest of two men on drug charges Wednesday night.

Shortly after 8 p.m., CPD officers observed the violation near Seventh Street and Gladstone Avenue, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

After stopping the vehicle, officers made contact with the driver, Dustin S. Bryant, 29, of Westport and his passenger, Gary L. Bryant, 53, of Columbus.

After speaking with the men, a Columbus Police Department canine was requested by the officers. The canine later alerted to the odor of narcotics inside the vehicle, Harris said.

While searching the vehicle, officers reportedly located a THC vape pen as well as a heroin and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle, Harris said.

Both men were placed under arrest and transported to the Bartholomew County Jail where they were held on the following preliminary charges:

  • Dustin Bryant: Possession of heroin, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Gary Bryant: Possession of heroin
