State: 912 additional Hoosiers diagnosed with COVID-19

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) said 912 additional Hoosiers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 through testing at ISDH, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and private laboratories. That brings to 66,154 the total number of Indiana residents known to have the novel coronavirus following corrections to the previous day’s dashboard.

A total of 2,765 Hoosiers are confirmed to have died from COVID-19, an increase of 19 over the previous day. Another 200 probable deaths have been reported based on clinical diagnoses in patients for whom no positive test is on record. Deaths are reported based on when data are received by ISDH and occurred over multiple days.

To date, 747,383 tests for unique individuals have been reported to ISDH, up from 735,848 on Thursday.

Bartholomew County is reporting 723 positive tests (up 18) with 47 deaths (no change).

The Bartholomew County Health Department, in its weekly report on testing, said 11,274 COVID-19 tests have been performed in the county, with the 723 positive and 10,539 negative results. There are 12 tests currently pending.

The number of positives of Bartholomew County residents may include testing that was conducted out of county. Conversely, the number of total tests may also include submissions for non-Bartholomew County residents. The counts listed for positives and deaths is only for Bartholomew County residents.

Surrounding counties reported:

Jackson County: 543 positive cases (up four) with four deaths (no change).

Jennings County: 206 positive cases (up three) with 12 deaths (no change).

Decatur County: 306 positive cases (up two) with 32 deaths (no change).

Shelby County: 500 positive cases (up one) with 26 deaths (no change).

Johnson County: 1,616 positive cases (up 16) with 118 deaths (no change).

Brown County: 68 positive cases (up one) with one death (no change).

As of Friday, more than 42 percent of ICU beds and more than 84 percent of ventilators were available across the state.

Anyone with concerns about COVID-19 is urged to call the health system’s Triage Resource Call Center, a phone resource line launched by CRH to handle calls from residents with questions and concerns about exposure or symptoms associated with COVID-19. The phone line is open daily from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and is staffed by registered nurses who will offer screening questions and potentially recommend a course of action for patients.
