BCSC’s first student day moved back to Aug. 10

The first student day for the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. has been delayed to Aug. 10.

Superintendent Jim Roberts said Friday his recommendation is to make up the two missed student days — Aug. 6 and 7 — during fall break on Oct. 5 and 6. The board will vote on this recommendation at their next meeting on Aug. 10. All other changes to the beginning of the school year are effective immediately.
With classes delayed, Aug. 6 and 7 will become teacher work days and replace the 1.5 teacher work days scheduled for the end of the first and second semesters. Teachers will be compensated for the additional half day. Aug. 5 is already scheduled as a teacher work day and will remain. There will also be a voluntary teacher work day on Aug. 4 to provide input to principals and address reopening needs.
