Columbus Speedway go-kart racing has several winners

The Columbus Speedway Go-Kart Racin,g which holds events at the Bartholomew County 4-H Fairgrounds, held an event on Sunday.

The division winners were Chris Rose (pred boxstock), Kyran Cole (rookie), Joey Baker (clone 340), Christopher Keller (junior champs), Maddi Morgan (junior 1), Bradley Brown ( junior 2), Grant Tyler (junior 3), Mike Kennedy (rwyb), Carrie Turner (flathead 365) and John George (clone 400).

Champs from Aug. 28 were Zach Roell (rookie), Sayer Gray (clone 340), Zach Cowan (pure stock pred), Maddi Morgan (junior 1), Devin Smith (flat head 365), Elijah Knoke (junior 2), Evan Shatto (junior 3), Brandon Malone (clone 400) and C.J. Cravens (clone 380).

Winners from the Aug. 29 Burris Midwest Classic were Jarret Shatto (clone 340), Calli Lucas (pro purple), Mike Kennedy (rwyb), Chris Buchanan (clone 365), Easton McKittrick (rookie class), Jake Roell (junior 1), Jared Harris (pure stock pred), Eric Rudicel (pred 212), T.J. Garris (clone 380), Elijah Knoke (junior 2), Jared Combs (flathead 365), Tyler Wells (senior champs) and Brayden Taylor (clone 400).

Jennings go-karts results

The Jennings County Outlaw Kart Racing, which conducts racing at the Jennings County 4-H Fairgrounds in North Vernon, held events on Sept. 4. The division winners were Easton McKittrick (rookie), Jake Roell (jr. 1), Connor Perry (youth champ), Allison Bowman (jr. 2), Ryker Williams (jr. champ), Evan Shatto (jr. 3), Robby Young (380 clone), Parker Perry (boxstock outlaw), Kevin Cunningham (flatheads and rwyb), Chris Buchanan (340 clone), Robert Doyle (sr. champ) and Travis Wilburn (400 clone).

Boknecht takes Brownstown

Matt Boknecht of Seymour won his second super stock feature of the year on Sept. 5 at Brownstown Speedway. Trey Chastain finished second to Boknecht, followed by Jamey Wilson, Zach Sasser and Rick Gumm.

Raymond Humphrey of Bloomington won his first Indiana pro late model feature of the year over Shelby Miles, Brad Barrow, Tyler Neal and Steve Peeden.

Jacoby Hines of Trafalgar won the open wheel modified feature at Brownstown for the third time in 2020. Trailing Hines across the finish line were Jordan Wever, Jared Bailey, Earl Plessinger and Greg Amick.

Dusten Carr won his fifth straight pure stock main event over Dalton Fleenor, Andrew Jones, D.J. Dunn and Brent McMillan.

Jacob Owens took his first hornet feature of the year, winning over Bryce Burton, Davey Waggoner, Michael Brewer and Jeremy Wilson.

Tonight, Brownstown will host a super stock special along with pro late models, modifieds, crown vics and hornets.

Next weekend, Brownstown will host the Jackson 100 weekend. On Friday will be a $10,000-to-win event for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. Also, the Bowman 50 will be contested for the pro late models with a prize of $2,000 to win on the line. Also competing Friday will be modifieds and pure stocks.

On Sept. 26 will be the 41st Annual Jackson 100 for the Lucas Oil Late Models, paying $15,000 to win. Hudson O’Neal is the defending race winner. Also running that day will be the modifieds and super stocks.

Brown County Dragway results

The Brown County Dragway held events on Sept. 7 and Sunday. The class winners from Sept. 7 were Reis Brownfield of Columbus, Rick Covey of Bedford, Josh Spencer of Carmel, Jimmy Callon of Franklin, David Rogers of West Terre Haute, James Eagan of Nashville and John Spencer of Carmel.

The winners from Sunday were Brayton Brownfield of Columbus, Eric Bowling of Bloomington, Kenny Callon of Trafalgar, Phillip Murphy of Nineveh and Dustin Taylor of North Vernon.

Lawrenceburg results

Nick Bilbee held off Joss Moffatt to win the sprint car feature on Sept. 5 at the Lawrenceburg Speedway. Moffatt finished in second, followed by Sterling Cling, Korbyn Hayslett and Justin Owen.

Trent Green won the open wheel modified feature over David Spille, Kyle Herbert, Matt Hamilton and Cory Skipton.

Joey Kramer won the pure stock feature race for his first win of the season over Joel Andrews, Wayne Williams, Will McDonough and Will Hayes.

From 60 years ago in 1960 at Lawrenceburg Speedway, Stan Bowman won the feature race.

From 50 years ago tonight at Brownstown Speedway, Teako Ray won the late model feature over John Warner, Jim Curry, Junior Pace and Gene Sutton.

Also from 1970 at Haubstadt, Larry Miller won the sprint car feature over Chuck Amati, Gene Henson and Johnny Krebbs. Jim Curry won the late model feature over Tom Helfrich and Jim Waters.

From 50 years ago in 1970 at Paragon Speedway, Allen Barr won the sprint car feature over Rex Mitchell, Dick Gaines, Frank Hollingsworth and Chet Johnson. Rodney Ritter Sr. won the stock car feature.

In 1970 at Lawrenceburg, Larry Miller swept both 50-lap sprint car features that were ran.

From 40 years ago in 1980 at Twin Cities, Steve Boley won the late model feature over T.J. Straley, Jim Moore, Roger Zellner and Norm Swift. Willie Sallee won the street stock main event over Bob Johnson, Ernie Niemoeller, Mark Bruce and Ted Pfeiffer Jr.

Also from 1980 at Charlestown Motor Speedway, Gerald Dixon won the late model feature over Bubby James, Pete Willoughby, Dick Potts and Doug Ault. Kevin Claycomb won the hobby stock feature over Tony Moore, Gary Cooksey, Steve Trabue and Denny Long. Emil Bennett won the street stock feature over Mike Landmeer and Bob Jackson.

From 1980 at Haubstadt, Kenny Schrader won the late model feature over Phil Gregory, Terry Messenger, Jim Scales and Doug McCammon.

From 30 years ago in 1990 at Haubstadt, Rickey Hood won the sprint car feature over Larry Bland and Joey Nash. Doug McCammon won the late model feature over Kevin Claycomb and Ray Godsey.

From 20 years ago in 2000 at Brownstown, Rick Corbin won the late model feature, Mike Fields the super stock feature and Bubba Woods the bomber feature.
