New officer sworn-in to Columbus Police Department

The Columbus Police Department welcomed its newest officer on Tuesday.

Officer Ryan J. Salisbury, 33, was accompanied by his family when he was sworn-in to CPD by Columbus Mayor Jim Lienhoop at the Board of Works and Public Safety meeting at Columbus City Hall.

Salisbury is a graduate of Bloomington High School South and Indiana University, where he graduated with a double major in criminal justice and psychology.

After college, Salisbury joined the United States Marine Corps where he served for six years. After leaving the military, Salisbury joined the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department where he served as a patrol officer for more than three years.

Salisbury has now begun an orientation period at CPD and continue on to the department’s field training program.
