Panthers blank Braves

NORTH VERNON — Lexi Doup clubbed a two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning Wednesday to give Jennings County a 2-0 win against Brownstown Central.

Shelby Wilson went 2 for 2 with a double, and Doup went 2 for 3 with a double and the homer for the Panthers (1-1), who pounded out seven hits. Kenzie Matern threw a four-hit shutout.

Braves top Cougars

BROWNSTOWN — South Decatur opened its season with a 12-1, four-inning loss at Brownstown Central.

Ben Stier, Brady Lane and Devin Pate combined on a four-hitter, but walked nine. The Cougars had two hits, including a double by Avery Seegers.
