Day of Caring registration has begun

Registration for United Way of Bartholomew County’s Day of Caring has begun.

United Way’s Day of Caring is a full-day volunteer event that connects local businesses and community members with non-profit and residential volunteer projects in Bartholomew County. This year’s event is May 21.

A variety of volunteer projects will be available, including planting flowers, mulching, painting, organizing, and sorting donations. Volunteers of all ages and skill levels are welcome to participate.

This year’s event will look different considering the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Organizers say the top priority is the health and safety of everyone involved.

Indoor projects will be limited to a maximum of six to eight volunteers per shift and will be determined by facility size. Outdoor projects will be limited to a maximum of 20 volunteers per shift and is based on the size of the outdoor space. Adherence to CDC guidelines regarding mask usage and social distancing will be used at every site.

Last year’s event was cancelled because of COVID-19, but previous Day of Caring days have attracted about 1,000 volunteers.
