SEYMOUR — Heading into their final performance of the season, with five seniors on Senior Night, the Trinity Lutheran boys basketball team hammered visiting Rising Sun 68-48.
Senior Toby VanLiew scored the first seven points for his team and after Daniel Horton’s second trey of the game, the Cougars led 15-2. Trinity Lutheran eventually led 37-22 at halftime with senior Jacob Christopher contributing two big treys in the second quarter.
Horton finished the first half with 15 points.
Rising Sun eventually made a third-quarter run, getting to within 37-26, but the Cougars pulled away.
“I was glad to see the seniors leave after four years with a win,” Cougars coach Aaron Rudzinski. “I though we executed well, I thought we played a good first quarter, the second quarter we got a little lax. We took some things for granted. They scored a little too much for my liking, but overall I thought we did a nice job and executed enough to win”.
Christopher and Horton shared high scoring honors with 17 points each.
