Scipio Baseball sign-ups scheduled for today

Scipio Baseball sign-ups will be from noon to 2 p.m. today at the Scipio Firehouse.

Leagues will be for boys and girls from 4 years old and older. Age ranges will be divided as numbers allow.

Edinburgh girls to host elementary basketball camp

The Edinburgh girls basketball team will host an elementary basketball camp Monday through Thursday at Edinburgh Community High School for girls in Grades K-6. Grades K-3 will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m., and Grades 4-6 will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Central will hold cheer, track, football meetings

Central Middle School will conduct its call-out meeting for the 2015-16 cheer season at 6 p.m. Monday at the school. Interested cheerleaders and a parent should attend to hear upcoming dates and information.

Central’s call-out meeting for the 2015 track season will be Tuesday in the auxiliary gym for current Central and St. Peter’s seventh- and eighth-graders. The girls meeting will be from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m., followed by the boys from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Central’s call-out meeting for the 2015 football season will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the school’s gray box. Interested players and a parent should attend to hear upcoming dates and information.

North girls soccer offers open-field sessions

The Columbus North girls soccer team is having open-field sessions from 6 to 7 a.m. Wednesdays and Fridays through March 20 on the North football field.

Players should dress according to the weather and bring turf, gym and running shoes.

Seymour plans softball open forum meeting

The Seymour Parks and Recreation Department will conduct a softball open forum meeting for adult softball leagues at 6 p.m. Wednesday in Conference Room A of Seymour City Hall.

The meeting is intended to obtain the public’s opinion and input on how to improve the current leagues and any other leagues that may be added in the 2015 season. Previous players, current players and anyone considering playing are welcome.

North to conduct informational meeting for entering freshmen

The Columbus North girls basketball informational meeting for entering freshmen and their parents will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in Room 1702 of North High School.

With renovation work going on in Memorial Gym, parents should park on the north side of the school, enter Door 33, go straight down the hall and make a left into the hall that leads to the weight room. Room 1702 will be on the left.

Several topics will be discussed, including workout and open gym opportunities for the spring, physical exam information, schedules for the summer and fall conditioning. For more information, contact coach Pat McKee, [email protected].

Table tennis league to begin Wednesday

The Columbus Area Table Tennis Association’s 2015 Winter/Spring League will begin Wednesday at Donner Center. The league will feature open exhibition play from 7 to 10 p.m. for six Wednesdays, followed by a singles tournament April 22 and 23.

League fees are $40 for the entire league, $20 for ages 18 and younger or $8 for an individual session or $10 for the singles tournament sessions. Players of all skill levels are welcome, and trophies will be awarded to tournament winners.

East lacrosse to host quarter auction and silent auction

The Columbus East Lacrosse inaugural quarter auction and silent auction will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Bartholomew County Fairgrounds Community Building. Doors open at noon.

Cost is $5 per paddle, with more than 15 vendors on site. Refreshments will be sold. Funds raised from the auction will be used to support lacrosse student scholarships and team equipment.

Mega Sports Camp coming to First Christian

First Christian Church will host Mega Sports Camp from 8:30 a.m. to noon March 16-19 for Grades K-6.

The spring break sports camp, which is in its third year, will feature baseball, basketball, cheerleading, flag football, running and soccer. Kids will work on drills and skill development and will have object lessons, music and Bible stories to help develop character, confidence and self-esteem.

Dunn Stadium summer league sign-ups continue

Registration for summer men’s and women’s and coed softball leagues at Dunn Stadium will continue through March 21. Men’s and women’s leagues will be Wednesday nights, and the coed league will be Thursday nights.

Church league signups will continue through April 15. Games will be played on Friday nights beginning May 1.
